The teaching, research and extension actions developed by the nucleus are committed to the production of knowledge and professional intervention methodologies from a psychosocial perspective. PIRACEMA/NISA – Interdisciplinary Center for Health and Environment is formed by professors from the Higher School of Health Sciences of the University of the State of Amazonas. It was created with the aim of: producing and disseminating knowledge linked to teaching, research and extension; strengthen the uniqueness of knowledge produced in the Amazon; strengthen the dialogue between health and the environment. Interdisciplinary dialogues and techniques are explored, through methodological triangulations of qualitative and quantitative approaches. Your lines of research are 1) Socio-environmental Diversity and Inequality in Health; 2) Health, Work and Subjectivity in the daily life of the Amazon; 3) Psychosocial aspects and traditional populations in the Amazon. In addition to these lines, it is intended to establish partnerships with other groups and institutions to strengthen the field of health and environment in the Amazon.

The research group on health promotion and education is formed by professors from the Higher School of Health Sciences, at the Universidade do Estado do Amazonas, in addition to students from its various undergraduate courses. It was created with the objective of disseminating knowledge from the research and extension activities developed at the institution, strengthening this interdisciplinary field of knowledge. His research lines are “Evaluation and analysis of public policies and management of health services and systems”; “Human Rights, Sexuality and Gender”, “Fundamentals and practices for health promotion and education” and “Social Groups in Vulnerable Conditions, Mental Health and Psychosocial Care”. In addition to these lines, the laboratory has established partnerships with other groups and institutions to strengthen the field of public health in the region.
