Line 1: Distribution and determination of health problems in the Amazon region

It studies the health-disease process, considering the distribution of the occurrence of diseases and their social, demographic, economic, occupational, cultural and environmental conditions or related to the behaviors and ways of life of populations, through the application of different epidemiological study models and statistical tools, as well as the evaluation of health interventions, services and policies, with a focus on primary care. It intends to contribute to the formulation and improvement of control strategies and definition of priorities in public health policies in the Amazonian context.

Line 2: Policy, Planning and Management in Health

It comprises the theoretical discussion and studies related to social policies, public health policies, planning and management in institutions and the analysis of information from health systems in their various aspects: social conditions, regional diversity, scopes of practice, technology , production and dissemination of knowledge, financing, regulation and the organization of the State, articulating them with the training, permanent education and establishment of professionals in the Amazon territory. It also covers studies of an evaluative nature focused on methodological, epidemiological, technological incorporation and health service organization aspects, which includes the stages of defining and prioritizing problems, interventions and chosen approach strategies, their determinations, resources involved, the results achieved, expected and not expected, as well as the influence of the context in the process.

Line 3: Sociocultural diversity of health practices and rights in the Amazon region: actors, institutional contexts and relationships with knowledge

It investigates the concrete practices of social actors in the field of health, the meanings, meanings and values ​​attributed and that emerge from them, as part of complex interrelationships, including the plurality of demands for care and their forms of claims and responses (related to issues of gender, race, ethnicities, social identities and rationalities), the diversity of actors (state, professionals, civil society and the supra-state scope), institutional scenarios (justice, education, environment and health) and knowledge related to the effectiveness of the human rights of the Amazon populations.
