Integrated Library System – SIB/ UEA is structured in (01) a Central Library and 24 (twenty-four) Sectorial Libraries located in the Schools.

Superiors, Centers for Higher Studies and Centers for Higher Studies, all of which are directly connected to the Central Library that promotes the integration and standardization of services and processes: cataloging, classification, registration, in addition to the in loco and online service of the bibliographic collection by the community through Pergamum, a system that allows students to search and make reservations and renewals of titles via the internet. Pergamum is already used in about 48 higher education institutions in the country, which allows UEA students to consult the collection of these institutions. The bibliographic collection comprises 59,723 titles, 157,560 copies and 2,725 additional materials.

The 692 m2 Health Sciences Sector Library, with 3,250 titles and 8,704 items in its bibliographic collection, in addition to access to the UpToDate database, the Pearson Virtual Library and the CAPES periodicals portal. Its physical structure consists of 02 120-seat reading rooms, 16-seat computer lab, 35 individual study rooms, 36 group study seats, 08 research production stations, Wi-Fi throughout, accessibility and interactivity, collection , retro space, administration and user service. It is supported by three librarians and is open to the academic community from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The collection is issued by self-service at booths that use RFID (radio frequency identification) technology, which consists of transponders (radio frequency tags), readers with antennas connected to the controller’s computer. RFID is an identification technology that uses radio frequency to collect data, allowing a tag to be read without the need for line of sight, through obstacles and objects such as wood, plastic, paper, etc. The system was implemented to digitally manage credit from work identification, tracking and managing the entire flow of entry and exit of titles, without contact and without the need for a department and staff for issuance, thus optimizing transaction times, security of access to collections and quality of service to the academic community.
