Concentration area (US)

The course is structured around a single area of ​​concentration, COLLECTIVE HEALTH. The area produces knowledge and knowledge about the object “health”, articulating different disciplines (epidemiology; social and human sciences in health; policies, planning and management of health systems and services) that contemplate it from various angles; and a scope of practices, where actions are carried out in different contexts by different actors, inside and outside the space conventionally recognized as the “health sector”. As a field of knowledge, Collective Health studies the health-disease phenomenon as a social process in populations; investigates the production and distribution of diseases in society as a result of social production and reproduction processes; analyzes health practices in their articulation with other social practices; seeks to understand the ways in which society identifies its health needs and problems, seeks to explain them and organizes itself to face them. The program aims to deepen technical and academic knowledge in collective health in the Amazon context, combined with the development of skills and abilities in conducting studies in the area of ​​Public Health.
