The course is structured around a single area of \u200b\u200bconcentration, COLLECTIVE HEALTH. The area produces knowledge and knowledge about the object \u201chealth,\u201d articulating different disciplines (epidemiology; social and human sciences in health; policies, planning, and management of health systems and services) that contemplate it from various angles; and a scope of practices, where actions are carried out in different contexts by different actors, inside and outside the space conventionally recognized as the “health sector.” As a field of knowledge, Collective Health studies the health-disease phenomenon as a social process in populations; investigates the production and distribution of diseases in society as a result of social production and reproduction processes; analyzes health practices in their articulation with other social practices; seeks to understand the ways in which society identifies its health needs and problems, seeks to explain them, and organizes itself to face them.
